Mos Def - The Ecstatic

I lay here, hungover. It's a beautiful british sunny day and the soothing sounds of Mos Def's latest album "The Ecstatic" are carrying me through this horrendous hangover.
The main track that stands out for me is "Auditorium". This track features Slick Rick, and the beat was produced my Madlib, can't really go wrong with that to be honest.
It's the strings in the instrumental that really get me, always been a sucker for the strings. Pitch Black's "It's All Real" produced my DJ Premier is a great example of the strings I like in a good hip-hop instrumental.
Anyway, the beat for Auditorium fits Mos Def's voice perfectly, great lyrics too. The song was actually made a good 2 years ago and the album has long been in production, so you would expect something worth waiting for, and Mos Def has not failed to deliver. It has a cracking intro that really sets you up for what the rest of the album has to offer.
It's really refreshing as a classic hip-hop addict that albums like this are still being produced. I thought NaS was right when he said hip-hop was dead, but Mos Def is one of the few pushing the rebirth of true hip-hop.

I'll leave you with the intro/first track from the new album, this one's called "Supermagic".
